Collision between two inland vessels
On the Albert Canal in Belgium a head-to-head collision took place between an inland tanker and a push combination. The damage to the tanker in particular was considerable and repairs had to be carried out immediately.
We were appointed by Hull & Machinery Underwriters of the inland tanker. In view of the extent of the damage and the expected loss of earnings, we prepared a repair specification and various shipyards were invited to submit a quotation.
The repairs were closely monitored by us and the final repair costs were discussed and agreed with the shipping company, the shipyard and the counter surveyor.
Such an assignment in the event of a one-sided or two-sided collision is very regularly handled by Verschoor & Bras in sea and inland shipping.
